aka my INTERNSHIP
I'm working at a nearby high school called la compania de Maria with one of the math professors. I start at at 8:20 am and go til 1 pm every Friday. I also work on Tuesdays from 3:50 to 5:30 (i think...i'll have to double check on that). I sit in i think it's 4 classes. I'm prety sure each class is a solid hour. The first class is la economia (yeah def not my strong suit....wonderful). Oh and it's in Gallego too so i maybe understand one word once in a while. Then there are 2 math classes level 2. And then a level 3 class (but this book in in gallego). When i first met with the profesora i was sure to ask "all i'm doing is observing your classes right?" she told me in the beginning yes, but later on, she wants to me help explain stuff...yikes! So i'm learning mathematical terms in Spanish little by little.
i have a few reulgar blog posts about my internship too and they are tagged "internship" so they shouldn't be too hard to find if you wanna read those too.
Week 1: (only Friday)
First day on the job...
Week 2: (only Friday)
Most of the classes had exams, so i touched up on a little grammar and read some of "Ojos de Agua" (yeah i know a book should be underlined but ehhhh). The last class of the day (aka my favorite), went to the theatre to hear a guest speaker. He talked really slow and i understood most of what was being said when i was paying attention but then i started to drift off a bit. (i blogged about this...but i might just start putting everything internship on this page)
Week 3: (Tuesday & Friday)
I go into my internship every Friday and Tuesday. I love the last class that I sit in on Fridays and this is the same class I get to see when I go in on Tuesdays yay : ) One of the students loves to practice his English, and I respond back in Spanish haha, I get a kick out of it. On Tuesdays, after the hour class, we spend an hour working with a few students (tutoring) with their math. I didn't even need to understand what was being said (as in i did not comprehend much of what was being said) but I knew what was being said based on the reaction of la profesora. The 2 girls were goofing off a lot and weren't taking anything serious. It was a bit awkward just sitting there witnessing this, but oh well, not much i could do at that point. But I LOVE this internship!!!!
ok so i clearly stopped writing about this...but here's a picture of the 3 students that i happen to run into sometimes on the streets...my fave students from my fave class haha. they make the my very long friday a bit entertaining. they also compliment my spanish...que genial! (what they said about my spanish haha)
